Charles served as Executive President of SICPA, the leading product security provider of security inks and integrated tax collection systems, from 2000 to 2016, driving the group’s mission of providing cutting-edge patented technology solutions to address today's global security needs.
After obtaining his Civil Engineering degree at the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP) in Sao Paulo, Charles continued on to earn his MBA from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). His civil engineering background, in conjunction with his business education, led him to undertake two entrepreneurial ventures early in his career within Brazil’s construction and real estate development industry. He subsequently transitioned to the government security solutions industry in 1985, joining Engesa, Brazil’s leading defense contractor. Charles joined the Ensec Security Systems Group three years later, where he grew the Brazilian business through expansions into the U.S. market during his 10 years as Founder and President of the company.
In 1998, wishing to rekindle his passion for developing successful enterprises, Charles founded the CFC Consulting Group, Inc. in New York City. During this time, he was instrumental in providing integrated security solutions and product development, expanding his clients' businesses; in recognition for his services in the field of international security and defense, then-Brazilian President Fernando Henrique Cardoso awarded Charles the Ordem de Rio Branco (Order of Rio Branco).
Realizing the value Charles provided as a consultant to the company throughout his time at CFC, SICPA asked if he would join their organization as a Business Development Director in 2000. Soon thereafter, Charles secured a number of substantial contracts for SICPA’s Government Security Solutions Division, enabling him to take on the role of Product Security Executive President, in which he was entrusted with commercial and strategic leadership of the firm’s operations. Furthermore, Charles sat on SICPA Holdings’ Strategic Committee, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Additionally, Charles was responsible for the Global Oil & Gas, and Critical Government Infrastructure sectors of SICPA’s Integrity Management Solution Initiative.
Following his retirement from SICPA in 2016, he opened his family office, Compass Ventures, with the intent of leveraging his national and international expertise to “proactively invest in disruptive technologies with global market impact.”
Charles is the father of two children, as well as grandfather to six grand-children. He has resided in New York City with his wife Susana since 1998.
